DCPZ Educator Workshop with Planet Word Museum
April 19, 2022 @ 4:15 pm - 5:30 pm EDT
Language as Lens:
Language and culture are closely linked; the way a language is structured can reflect important ideas about relationships, respect, time, even an individual’s position in space. Together, participants will virtually visit and consider components of Planet Word’s Spoken World gallery. How do the languages we speak mirror the ways we think about the world? How might language create the lens through which we interact with peers, colleagues, and students? Exploring examples from Korean to Quechua, educators will use Project Zero Thinking Routines to examine video clips from the gallery and look inward to consider what impact our languages may have on our role as educators. Educators of any age group are welcome to attend, though the content of the gallery may be most appropriate for middle schoolers and up.
